Patient Perspective

"I think that we are fortunate to have such fine people providing healthcare for us in our own community."

I went up to the ED the day after having been tossed onto the rocks by a wave. The medical staff there was incredibly nice, and all went out of their way to express sympathy and compassion toward me. I felt professionally taken care of, while also being reassured and comforted.

Since the X-ray showed that I had a broken clavicle, they referred me to WhidbeyHealth Orthopedic Care, where I saw Dr. Siggard, who was also very friendly and upbeat, and provided clear details about my surgery. On the day of the surgery, I again experienced professional, yet friendly and compassionate care. The anesthesiologists took the time to give me detailed information about procedures, and were friendly and professional. Although the surgeries got backed up, and I had to wait some time for my turn, I felt
relaxed and free of anxiety, which I attribute to the relaxed and reassuring staff.

Overall, my experiences with the Emergency Department, the orthopedic surgeons office and the surgery were (and continue to be) quite positive. I think that we are fortunate to have such fine people providing healthcare for us in our own community.
