Thomas Steffens DO, FACOS

 

WhidbeyHealth will welcome Board Certified General Surgeon Dr. Thomas Steffens to its full-time surgical staff in December 2019. Dr. Steffens is skilled in open and laparoscopic surgery, upper and lower endoscopy, diagnostic and therapeutic medicine. 

A native of Grand Junction, Colo., Dr. Steffens practiced in Washington State from 1991 to 2013 in Poulsbo, Bremerton, Moses Lake and Quincy, Wash.

This esteemed Air Force Veteran/Major served as Staff General Surgeon at the Grand Junction VA Medical Center from 2013 to 2019.

Patient Care Philosophy

  • Dr. Steffens ascribes to the Osteopathic Oath and the belief in the body’s inherent capacity to heal itself.

  • An advocate of timely surgical intervention, his desire to diagnose and initiate treatment before a condition amenable to surgery worsens drives his focus.

  • As a veteran, Dr. Steffens cares deeply about his fellow brothers and sisters in arms and their care after military service.

Scope of Care

  • All aspects of General Surgery, including surgery of the thyroid, parathyroids, liver, spleen, esophagus, stomach, colon, gallbladder and pancreas

  • Any trauma that may arise
