Longtime pediatrician Robert Wagner, MD, has held many leadership roles since joining our medical staff in 1989 including Chief of Credentials, a committee that evaluates the competencies of hospital physicians. Dr. Wagner's practice has evolved from addressing injury and illness as they occur to embracing prevention-based models of care. Dr. Wagner, the only pediatrician practicing on South Whidbey, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP), which indicates his ongoing commitment to professional education and health care advocacy for children.
Patient Care Philosophy
- Practice preventive care models based on vaccination, injury prevention and early assessment of risk.
- Integrate clinical care with evidence-based public health models.
- Incorporate findings from evolving areas of clinical and sociological research in pediatric medicine, such as obesity, video screen usage and stress.
Scope of Care
- General pediatrics from birth to age 21
- Acute care for illness or injury
- Initial assessment of chronic signs and symptoms with referral to appropriate specialists and integration and management of services among these specialists
- Sports medicine and injury prevention
- General care and referral for behavioral and mental health conditions such as ADD, anxiety, autism, depression and adjustment disorders
- Vaccination programs integrated with state, national and county health authorities
