Getting Ready for Medicare
SHIBA volunteers work under the guidance of the Insurance Commissioner's Office. Counselors are available at WhidbeyHealth Medical Center by appointment. PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO THE OUTBREAK OF COVID-19, SHIBA COUNSELORS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR COUNSELING BY PHONE ONLY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
Presented by volunteers with Statewide Health Insurance Benefit Advisers (SHIBA), is intended to help people who will be going on Medicare in the next six months and/or who want to know more about Medicare.
Getting Ready for Medicare Box
Information will be provided on the "basic" Medicare benefits as well as the options for additional insurance(s). Medicare parts A and B will be discussed. We will discuss the differences between "Medigap" (supplemental) insurance and the various Advantage plans available on Whidbey Island, including benefits and rates.
Information about the various drug plan options will be included. If you want help with your drug plan, bring a detailed list of your drugs.
