My background includes a combination of experiences uniquely matched to our discussion.
I served in the Navy/ Marine Corps as a corpsman 1969-1973 and then while working at a local hospital, attended nursing school. As a Registered Nurse my experiences scrubbing and assisting in surgery at Scripps Green with many progressive surgeons was an excellent learning opportunity to the direction of medicine.
In 1980 I joined a family business in Harrisburg, Pa., specializing in working with life insurance agents to secure coverage with a multitude of carriers. My experience in medicine was an opportunity to negotiate with underwriters for improved ratings. As a leader in this strategy, I hired and trained several other registered nurses and physician assistants to expand our business throughout the U.S. The firm, Crump, is currently the largest Brokerage General Agency.
After working in Manhattan, Washington D.C. and Los Angeles, I joined Transamerica Life as their Universal Life Manager. This role was a combination of product design of universal life products and marketing. I traveled throughout the U.S. creating a market that grew sales at Transamerica dramatically. I created several concepts and products that changed the market leading to move on to Newport Beach, Ca., becoming a leading brokerage manager in the U.S.
As management at Transamerica focused on positioning selling the company, it was clear that being an independent agency representing multiple life insurance companies would once again allow me to deliver better results for my agents/brokers. Survivor Insurance Services, Inc. was established in 1996 and has since been the foundation and brand name I’ve been the owner of.
In 2009 we moved to Whidbey as part of our future plan to “enjoy life”. “Reinvention” included merging my firm with AgencyOne in Rockville, Md., next to D.C. This has allow me to travel and be more independent continuing to serve my brokers in Southern California and Las Vegas. Their agency is owned by my cousin and partners who were all part of my early career.
Suzanne Leisher is my wife and is a realtor here on Whidbey. Her leadership includes being the president of Washington Certified Residential Specialist’s.
My personal passion is big game fishing and we own a boat “SURVIVOR” in San Jose Del Cabo so I try to enjoy time with friends and customers in Mexico as my schedule permits. I captain our vessel and compete in the Bisbee Black and Blue with my team from San Diego. I have extensive world fishing experiences and release almost all caught fish!
Having worked in the life insurance industry has connected me with a wide variety of customers including the famous and wealthy. The attorneys planning their estates also count on my delivery of life insurance solutions that fit their needs through their agents. I specialize in the “Old Unhealthy Wealthy”! Combining my medical background with my product and sales strategy experience has been my strength.
Whidbey Health caught my interest in a number of ways including having bypass surgery 6 years ago in Newport Beach at Hoag Hospital.
