District 2 Commissioner Chosen

The Whidbey Island Public Hospital District Board of Commissioners chooses Coupeville resident Kurt Blankenship as its newest member.

The Whidbey Island Public Hospital District Board of Commissioners, along with WhidbeyHealth CEO Geri Forbes, is pleased to announce Kurt S. Blankenship as their choice for District 2 Commissioner. Commissioner Blankenship was appointed on Thursday and sworn in on Friday, April 21 at WhidbeyHealth Medical Center.

“We were extremely impressed with the field of candidates,” said board president Ron Wallin.

“It was very satisfying to see so many qualified people interested in dedicating their time and efforts to support healthcare in our Whidbey Island community. But after careful consideration, it was clear that Kurt Blankenship would be a great complement to the board.”

Blankenship has been an attorney at Blue Williams, L.L.P. of New Orleans, La. since 1996, where he specialized in several areas including healthcare law.

Blankenship recently moved with his wife Jackie permanently to the Coupeville home they have owned for the past seven years.

“I have a wealth of healthcare-related experience from a legal standpoint that I believe will add significant value to my service as a commissioner,” Blankenship said.

“In August 2015, I underwent emergency surgery at WhidbeyHealth Medical Center and remained hospitalized for a week. I was very impressed with the quality of care and service I received, and would greatly enjoy the opportunity to contribute to that mission as commissioner.”

The Board of Commissioners would like to thank all the candidates for their interest in dedicating themselves to supporting the health of their community.
