SCOPE:
All departments within WhidbeyHealth must comply with Washington State Law to respect every patient and maintain an ethical relationship with the public.
PURPOSE:
Ensure all patients are notified of their rights and responsibilities as a patient as defined in WAC 246-320-141.
DEFINITIONS:
Document referred to as “Patient Rights and Responsibilities” is the WhidbeyHealth System form #001421.
POLICY:
WhidbeyHealth patients have many rights to ensure they receive the best care possible in a safe setting. Patients also have responsibilities that help both the patient and caregivers make informed decisions about the patient’s treatment while in our care. Each patient has the right to personal privacy and rights to complete information about your medical bill.
Every patient who receives services from WhidbeyHealth will receive a written document informing them of their Rights and Responsibilities. For those patients with series visits the Patient Rights and Responsibilities should be presented to the patient at the first encounter.
The Patient Rights and Responsibilities are found on the WhidbeyHealth website and will be updated to remain current.
