Scope

Applicable to all WhidbeyHealth Medical Center and Clinic staff who greet, schedule, and register patients into our healthcare system.

Purpose

Provide our patients access to medical center and clinic services which includes providing access to information and assistance.

Policy

WhidbeyHealth and Clinics staff will create a warm, welcoming environment consistent with our Corporate Values and Standards of Behavior when they receive patients, family and/or caregivers. WhidbeyHealth does not exclude or deny admission to any person on the basis of age, race, color, creed, ethnicity, religion, national origin, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, veteran or military status, or any other basis prohibited by federal, state, or local law.

Patient Access staff will register patients; provide information and obtain signatures, as appropriate, on required documentation to include but not limited to:

  • Patient Rights and Responsibilities;
  • Advance Directives, Living Wills;
  • Important Messages from Medicare;
  • Notice of Privacy Practices;
  • Consent for Care and Treatment;
  • Financial Responsibility Agreement;
  • Financial Assistance/ Charity Care policies;
  • Release of Patient Medical Information Authorization;
  • Release for Electronic Medication Prescriptions;
  • Advance Beneficiary Notice;
  • Third Party Liability Forms (TPL)

Patient Access will arrange interpreter services for patients who have difficulty communicating with Patient Access staff.
